When in Early Childhood Education at EHOVE, we spend most of our time in the EHOVE preschool  being  a student teacher.  Like every other class, we also have paper work and book work.  Early Childhood Education has a related class, where we learn skills like Physical, Cognitive, Social, and Emotional development, teaching fundamentals, and how to write an appropriate lesson plan.

During Junior year, the students in Early Childhood have their related class first thing in the morning with the lab instructor Mrs. Kluding. During Senior year, the students are in the preschool the whole lab time, so they all take their related as an academic class with Mrs.Leimbach for college credit.

In Mrs.Leimbach’s class this year, we are using a book called The Incredible Years. Every Wednesday, we have two guest speakers come in to related and teach us about working with children and how to react to different signs. They also teach us different learning styles and techniques to be more successful in our own preschool. It makes our preschool  more interesting to use what they teach us in the classroom.

We also use Text books called Working With Children.  Each chapter of the text-book talks about different ages.  We learn to work with children all the way up to the age of five and how to teach Science,  Social Studies, Math and language to preschoolers. This helps us to know what the children are capable of doing during lab.

This class is also my personal favorite.  Mrs. Leimbach is a really interesting teacher. She enjoys using videos and stories to help us understand each concept after we read about it in our text-books. She is also a very understanding, caring, respectful and one of the easiest teachers to talk to. This class has taught me alot about how to be sucessful while working with children in preschool.
